Us!

Feb 16, 2009

Returning visitors will have noticed some changes to the general look of Flashlight, as well as myriad new features. For a start, we now have ratings, so those of you too lazy to actually read the reviews can see at a glance exactly how rubbish we think Keane are. The top, and soon to be highly prized, mark is the 'glowing' battery. This is reserved for truly classic records/gigs. Think The Stone Roses, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Dummy, Endtroducing, Definitely Maybe or Dumpy's Rusty Nuts at the Windsor Old Trout (oh how we miss you) on April 23rd 1993. So far, only Beastie Boys and Johnny Cash have been awarded this accolade.

The bottom mark is the rusty, shitty battery, which is reserved for Keane, Snow Patrol and Razorlight. Think violent sexual assault of the ear and you'll be just about there. Then there are the marks in between. If you feel they need explaining then you are probably somewhat of a 'tard. In fact, it's unlikely you can even read, so there's little point anyway.

Also, we have a Clip of the Day feature on the front page. This can be anything we feel like really; a new release, classic clip, something that made us laugh, or a way to promote new bands or directors. If you have any suggestions for clips, please email us at editor@flashlightmusic.co.uk. But no porn, please. By which we mean, plenty of porn please, but bear in mind it won't be put on the site.

Finally (yes, myriad means three and a half in Flashlight world), we come to the Comments section and Forum. Both these features have been in operation for a while now, but we really haven't made the most of them. You'll notice that there's now a box on the homepage which lists the most recent comments left across the whole site. From here, you can reach the article that each comment was left on. We'd encourage everyone that uses the site to register and start leaving comments, even if it's just to tell us we're a bunch of knob gags. Especially if it's just to tell James he's a knob gag, in fact. The forum has been lying pretty much dormant for months now, and we really want to start utilising it. So again, please register and start posting; we want the site to be as friendly and inclusive as possible, and will do our best to crush any rebel cliques Stalin style.

Oh yeah, one more thing. You are now able to search the site by writer, so if you think you share similar taste with a particular writer, you can see everything they've reviewed. Other than that, have an explore of the site yourself, and we hope you like...
