Arctic Monkeys treat Kiwis to new material
Jan 13, 2009
The Arctic Monkeys are currently on tour down under (if New Zealand is included in that expression), and last night debuted four new tracks at the Wellington Town Hall. The band were playing a warm-up date before they embark on the Big Day Out festival around New Zealand and Australia, and are taking a break from recording their 3rd album with Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme.
Alongside classics like 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor', 'Dancing Shoes' and 'Fluorescent Adolescent', the band tried out new tracks, 'Dangerous Animals', 'Pretty Visitors', Go-Kart' and 'Crying Lightning' using, at one point, a toy piano and slide guitar. In what one can assume was an effort to fit in with their antipodean cousins, the band also came on and played an encore of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' 'Red Right Hand'. Which I would really like to hear, so get with the programme Youtube...
