New plan afoot to deal with pirates

Jul 30, 2008

The government have helped broker a deal with six of the UK's largest internet service providers, which will see thousands of letters sent to people that are suspected of sharing music illegally. The government have also stated that the worst offenders should have their internet connection speed 'throttled'.

The six ISPs that you should probably cancel your contract with are BT, Virgin (whom Samuel L Jackson seemingly deliberately fails to mention already throttle the speed of persistent file downloaders), Orange, Carphone Warehouse and Tiscali. The deal, unsurprisingly, also includes plans for such companies to launch legal (ie expensive) download services.
