Mark Ronson To Auction NME Award Following Bad Glastonbury Review
Jul 9, 2008
Renowned media whore and alleged corrupter of impressionable soul singers Mark Ronson has stated that he will auction his NME award on eBay after the paper said that his really bad performance at Glastonbury was really bad.
Apparently Ronson only became aware of the review (like he doesn't employ hordes of media pimps purely to scour the written press for his daily quota of "isn't Mark Ronson great, what a unique talent" platitudes) when the journalist in question wrote to him to deny all responsibility for the entirely accurate review "I got the following email from a journalist at the NME in reference to what I imagine was a scathing review of my glasto performance (if only I read the mag, I might know what it said....oh well)," he wrote.
Ronson published a screen shot of the email - omitting the journalist's name - in which the writer claims they did not even see Ronson's set.
"I got no problem taking responsibility for my words, but I do have a problem taking responsibility for someone else's," the journalist wrote.
The producer concluded his blog by saying he would sell his NME award for Best International Solo Artist on eBay "as soon as the morons send it to me".
"I doubt the bidding will go that high and it makes an excellent doorstop," he added. Ironically, not only did I not see Ronson's set, but I also didn't read the blog. Or the email. In further Ronson news, Noel Fielding has revealed that Mark has expressed an interest in producing a single for the newly incorporated Mighty Boosh Band, who headlined The Mighty Boosh Festival this weekend. Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Fielding said: "Mark Ronson did genuinely say he would do a single with us. He had his eye on 'Captain Cabinets' which I think is hilarious, because it's a tiny crimp about five seconds long. But if he wants to make that into a Number One single, then he can".
