Jacko Roundup

Jul 2, 2009

It appears that whilst we were away sunning ourselves in a field in Somerset (more on that later) something happened that sent shockwaves around the entertainment world. However, no matter how much we miss Farrah Fawcett (apologies to Nick Cave for that blatant gag theft), us being a music site, we feel that we must at least mention the demise of the King Of Pop. So here begins us joining the endless boring speculation about what will be happening to his kids, money, giraffes, ferris wheel etc etc...

It seems that first up, there will be no public memorial at Neverland this weekend. This may have changed since I wrote this as no one seems to be able to make their mind up on this (on Sky News at least). The family have issued a statement saying "Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland. Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly." So there you go.

Elsewhere, it's being reported that Jacko has left his entire estate to his family, "intentionally omitting" to provide for his former wife Debbie Rowe, according to a document filed in an LA court. It's estimated that his estate is valued at more than $500 million which seems bizarre considering everyone's been banging on about how skint he is for the last few years. Maybe he's made money from the fact that he's sold a shitload of albums this week. That would be irony for you. And not in an Alanis Morissette way either.

Across the press, there are several other stories surrounding the singer ranging from denials from promoter AEG regarding accusations that they contributed to his death with his 50 date residency, to Jackson actually being a hairless monkey with 6 breasts. Probably. But to be honest, I'm bored of writing about it and you're probably bored of reading it. If it's news you want, go and buy a bloody paper.

Oh, and allegedly, Bubbles hasn't been invited to his funeral.
