Neil Young confirmed for Glastonbury...
Mar 9, 2009
In the unravelling of the worst kept secret since Blur were confirmed for the 2009 Glastonbury Festival a few days ago, Michael Eavis has confirmed that Neil Young is the third headliner for this year's do. He joins the aforementioned mockneys and Bruce Springsteen to round out the three major headliners (if you choose to ignore Michael Eavis's 'four headliners' comments, which I do).
The male Eavis said, "Every year the people that come to the Festival ask the same question: when is Neil Young playing? So this is big news for us. I've seen him play many times over the years but I think he's better than ever at the moment, it's one hell of a show.
"And the wonderful thing about Neil Young is that every generation loves his music, you can hear him in some of the younger bands like Fleet Foxes, who will also be playing at the Festival this year, so it's a big one for all of us. With Neil on the bill we are close to completing our best ever line-up."
The controversial move to announce the line-up way after the tickets went onsale doesn't seem to have put the mockers on what is so far looking like a pretty strong festival. So far, apart from Young, Springsteen and Blur, we can look forward to Doves, Emiliana Torrini and er, Franz Ferdinand. Also rumoured are Orbital, The Specials and Kanye West, but who will complete the bill?
