Rejoice....Reverend and the Makers are staying together!

Sep 17, 2008

In perhaps the biggest (Reverend and the Makers related) bombshell to hit the music industry today - well, this mid-afternoon at least - Jon McClure has now claimed that he actually won't be quitting the business after all. McClure had previously told his fanbase (I think his name is Dave) that he was sick of record industry nonsense, and was better than that etc. Now, it seems, he loves us all after all, and the forthcoming A French kiss in the Chaos won't be his last gift to the hackneyed derivative baggy fraternity.

McClure told BBC Newsbeat: 'I got a bit mental when I got down in the dumps and said I was going to quit but I won't, I'll carry on.'

McClure added: 'There's some people I need to put straight on a few things first. I will be back, don't worry about that, I'm bullet-proof.'

Thank the Lord, we've only recently got over Toploader's split; this could have sent us over the edge. It is strange though, that someone who apparently detests the machinations of the industry in general and of the music press in particular should get about forty nine times as much coverage on this story than for anything that Reverend and the Makers have ever done musically. A cynic may just suggest that he knows what he's doing. Not us though, we just think he's a true revolutionary, and all you f#ckers just don’t get him. Or his sh#tty brand of hackneyed derivative baggy.
