Roses may never reform due to ongoing problems with Brown
Jul 16, 2008
Ex Stone Rose and current Primal Scream bassist Mani has told BBC News that the only thing stopping the Roses reforming, at least for a tour, is vocalist Ian Brown's resistance to the idea.
Mani said: "I spoke to John and Reni about it a few years ago and they said they'd love to do it at some point in time, but Ian Brown seems dead set against it."
So it looks like, after a few interviews over the last few years which seemed to indicate a potential thawing of the fractious relationship that previous best mates Brown and Squire have endured since the final days of the Roses, Ian Brown still bears a quite monumental grudge towards Squire. Gutted. And if you ever happen to meet Brownie in the street, and he claims the reason is something akin to "not wanting to look back, not wanting to do it for the money or sully their reputation", look him square in the eyes and remind him that he produces about thirty minutes per set of aural rape by way of getting a tribute band to back him in cack handed covers of Roses classics.
