The Who to star in Rock Band game?
Oct 29, 2009
We at Flashlight have suddenly gone video game crazy. And not just because we hope to be sent lots of free shit. In order to maintain our status as 'sticking it to the man', independent types, and not merely because free shit of a varied nature would be nice, we will follow yesterday's DJ Hero story with a bit about the game's rival series, Rock Band, and the news that The Who may be about to follow in The Beatles' footsteps and star in their own game.
Trout farmer Roger Daltrey had this to say: "The game, yeah, yeah, they're going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned," Daltrey told Mass Live. "[The idea] is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can't stop us singing and making music."
However, a spokesperson for Rock Band creators Harmonix has denied that anything has been agreed with The Who. "We're working closely with The Who on what's next, but don't have anything new to announce at this time," the spokesperson told EW.com.
A Who version would be something to behold. Surely in order to be anything like authentic, you'd need to smash the bejaysus out of the guitar, and rig the drum kit with explosives? Perhaps these are the details still to be confirmed. Apparently, U2 have already confirmed their interest in doing their own Rock Band as well. I'm sure that will be an excellent laugh. I have a feeling that it will be pretty difficult though, as I assume it's essentially a twat simulator, and I think only Bono himself will be able to complete the 'Expert' level.
