Dagha - The Remedy

For Dagha's first single since last year's 'heartbreak in LP format' The Divorce, he's wisely sought the help of old friend and collaborator Edan (where oh where is your third LP?) on production duties. The result is altogether less bombastic than you might expect; Edan providing a solitary scratchy folk guitar over which Dagha and Al-J wistfully namecheck just about every great hip hop musician of the last twenty five years, finding that "sometimes to reminisce be the remedy." Evidently Dagha still finds himself in a melancholic place, and it's disarmingly touching to hear him getting through it with a healthy dose of nostalgia.
Simplicity is the key to 'The Remedy'; and it's because of its starkness that it's so affecting. Plus, one listen to the lyrics and you'll be digging out albums you haven't listened to in ages. And you know what, Dagha's right..
