Flipron - Book Of Lies

The lead single from Flipron's forthcoming third album sees few departures for the band from Glastonbury, who have built up something of a cult following with their brand of Syd Barrett-esque weird pop. The calypso guitars, catchy chorus and rasping vocal from singer Jesse Budd are all present, the only ingredient added to the mix being a slightly rawer production sound courtesy of Damned drummer Rat Scabies who also produces the album.

Tackling the subject of those mates who just can't stop talking bollocks, Book Of Lies sits perfectly in the sleazy lounge category, which is very apt as looking at a list of their live dates, they seem to play regularly in sleazy lounges. It's hardly going to see them top the charts or nominated for any Brit awards, but it knows what it wants to do and it does it just fine.
