Have you ever heard damning with fainter praise than being described as "Brighton's finest electronic four-piece"? That's what Fujiya & Miyagi's own press release describes them as! Before anyone starts, I am dissing neither electronic music, four pieces, or Brighton. I merely have doubts as to how many electronic four pieces there are there. Anyway, there was little need to damn with faint praise, as 'Sore Thumb' is a catchy slice of slightly dark electro pop, which is claimed to have been influenced by Captain Beefheart, but which, with its husky vocal and synth bass, is more obviously akin to 'Original Sin' by INXS. Which is no bad thing, obviously, though it could be read as more faint praise..
Oh, and the video is an absolutely genius 1980s video game retro fest..
