It's been a while since I heard the effortless, slightly nasal flow of Mr Lif. How good it is to be reacquainted with it. This is not, I have to confess, because 'The Sun' is a typically politically eloquent and uplifting track designed to raise spirits among the have nots. No, it's because Lif, when on this form, and provided with a platform as perfect as this synth and bass fest, is fucking dope. Ok, I'm not really that vacuous, and hip hop at its best is an obviously political beast. However, Lif has sometimes been guilty in the past of giving more attention to the message than the medium, so it's good to hear him coming back with something that makes your head nod before it inevitably makes you think.
