Nickelback - Far Away

Sep 24, 2008

'Far Away' is the sound of beards. Corporately manufactured beards at that. Nickelback probably don't even grow their own beards; I should imagine their record label gathers together cuttings from Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, and Westlife's facial hair. It then undergoes a rigorous screening process to remove any of the grime contained within, and is surgically attached to their faces. Nickelback want you to know that they have not one trick (loud rubbish) but two (quiet rubbish). For this is a ballad that just screams deep..in a horrible affected foghorn. Evidently they didn't remove all trace of Vedder... 'I love you, I loved you all along' goes the chorus. It's a boy band in polished grunge clothing. F#cking hell, it's even got a stand up from your stool key change!

I suspect even DFS are likely to say 'actually, that's a bit shit. Sofas involve sitting inside - and this song is more likely to make people go outside, thus minimising their chances of hearing this again. F#ck it, are those nice Jonas lads available. I know, I know, they're a little edgy, but we're an edgy sofa seller.' Etc.
