Razorlight - Wire To Wire

Oct 25, 2008

The return of Razorlight is a slightly bewildering affair. Gone are the rock-lite melodies of 'America' and 'In The Morning' and in comes wistful Elton John balladeering. 'Wire To Wire' seems to be a hybrid of Phil Collins' hugely patronising epic, 'Another Day In Paradise' and The Animals 'House Of The Rising Sun' without being as interesting or exciting as either.

'I've been looking for someone to believe in' pines Jonny Borrell, before asking 'How do you love on a night without feelings?'. It's fairly trite and uninspiring stuff, revolving around a slightly plodding piano riff and a choir added in to bring a bit of 'soul'. Most interestingly, it seems to give us something of a snapshot into exactly where Razorlight are headed. Judging by this and the picture of Borrell wearing pearls on the sleeve of the new album it seems that tantrums and tiaras could well be around the corner.
