The Coral - Being Somebody Else

Though this is a no doubt contract fulfilling new track released predominantly to accompany/get the fans to buy their Best Of (out next week, review to follow), The Coral just can't help but produce a typically harmonic soundtrack to a summer that doesn't exist. The usual echoes of Love, The La's and the Walker Brothers abound, this time lavishly smothered in sumptuous strings. Unfortunately it's likely that in the current musical (and meteorological) climate, they are pissing into a gale force, damp wind, but bless 'em for trying. It's not their strongest work by any means, but it still deserves to bother the upper reaches of the charts. It won't of course, and for that they can blame none other than God, the rain bringing git.
