Tracks - 15th February 2010

Feb 16, 2010

Greetings...It's important to race through the tracks this week as, Number 1, they're late, and Number 2, my computer keeps overheating every time I try and play a song. Sweet. So let's get straight in to it...

This passed me by recently, but it seems to be being hammered on 6Music, and I rather like it. Their first album was great and their last one not so much, so the jury's out...Here is 'Audience' by Cold War Kids

Field Music aren't really a band that massively grabbed me before, but I have to say that I am loving this tune. And how much does he sound like Paul McCartney? And how much does the guitar solo sound like George Harrison? This is 'Them That Do Nothing'. I guess it won't win too many originality points but it's ace...

I know certain people on this site hate Jamie T, and I know some other folk hate what's been done to his track 'Emily's Heart' for the single version, but to be quite honest, I'm writing the column, and I like it, so here you go...

I've got 6Music to thank for this as well, something else that seemed to pass me by last year - New York's French Horn Rebellion, who release the pretty damn disco 'Beaches & Friends' EP on March 1st. It seems a bit early in the year for this, but it reminds me of 'D.A.N.C.E' by Justice crossed with '(You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real', so that's OK....

Check out this very cool sounding track from Rough Trade's The Strange Boys. It sounds quite old school and has some crazy saxomophone. It also sounds like the singer is belting out a heartfelt tribute to Aston Villa defender Habib Beye...

Also well worth a look are London based The Leaf Library. You can check them out at their Myspace or download a nice Isan remix of their single, 'Losing Places' here and for free too!

Finally, this is my listened to track of the week...

See you next week!!

Harry Powell
